Site Description: A
rural garden on the edge of a fenland village.
The Brief: The client owned two brick and pantile 18th century
workers' cottages and wished to merge the two gardens to create
one large garden for herself and one small courtyard garden
for renting. One neighbouring house overlooked.
The client wanted her space to be a fun space from which to
entertain.
The Design: The
existing hot tub beside the back door was integrated into the
garden, and privacy enhanced using planting such as beautiful
climbing roses and evergreen clematis. A new multi-use garden
building was constructed next to the tub which would serve as
an office when working from home, another spare bedroom and
finally holding the all important fridge for that added luxury
whilst in the hot tub. A pergola walkway leading down the garden
would in time be covered in grape vines. A second terrace and
formal pond was created for al fresco dining surrounded by lavenders
and shimmering grasses. Finally lighting provided a fourth dimension,
transforming the garden at night.
