Pale yellow structural flowers. Achilleas are great plants for horizontal accents amongst grasses and other vertical plant forms. Sun. 60 x 45cm

Alchemilla mollis
(Perennial) Lady's Mantle
Great gap fillers. Foliage is beautiful, particularly after rain as water droplets catch on the leaves. Lime green frothy flower are a wonderful linking colour to many plants and good contrast with blue and deep pinks flowers. Sun/partial shade. 45 x 60cm

Bergenia cordifolia ‘Rotblum’
(Evergreen Perennial) Elephant's Ears
Large leathery leaves are a good contrast for softer plantings and are useful evergreen ground cover. Deep rosy-red pink flowers in April-May. Leaves turn bronzy in winter. Full sun/part shade/ full shade. 30 x 30cm

Euonymus fortunei ‘Emerald Gaiety
(Evergreen Shrub)
Mound forming evergreen shrub with variegated green and white leaves. Leaves take on purplish tinge in cold weather. Sun/partialshade. 1x 1.5m.

Geranium macrorrhizum ‘Bevans Variety’
(Semi-evergreen Perennial)
Balkan Cranesbill
Great all round weed proof groundcover for all aspects. Fills gaps quickly. Used for its foliage only in this planting scheme. Mound forming semi evergreen geranium with attractive light green aromatic foliage - smell is subjective! Flowers twice (purple pink) and has bonus of reddish autumn tints. Sun/partialshade/full shade. 30 x 60cm

Geranium pratense ‘Mrs Kendall Clark’ (Perennial) : Meadow Cranesbill
Hardy geranium with beautiful pearl grey blue flowers in June-July which glow in dull weather and evening light. Forms good clumps of foliage which have reddish tints in autumn.. Will need support and can ramble through other plants. Sun/ partial shade. 60-90cm x 60cm

Geranium ‘Rozanne’
(Perennial) Cranesbill
Hardy geranium with lovely large iridescent blue-pink tinged flowers with pale centres. Much longer flowering season than 'Johnson's Blue' and I think more attractive.Foliage turns red brown in autumn. Flowers June to first frosts. Full Sun. 45 x 60 cm

Geranium renardii
(Perennial) Cranesbill
Hardy geranium with lovely pearl white flowers with delicate violet striations on the inside petals. Need to be seen in the leaf (as it were) to appreciate flowers. Leaves are a rounded solid sage green with attractively scalloped edges and could easily be mistaken for a scented geranium. Sun/ partial shade. 30 x 60cm

Helleborus orientalis
(Evergreen Perennial)
Lenten Rose
Good groundcover and is also an essential winter flowering plant for moist shady areas. Also known as the Lenten Rose - flowering from February to April. You need to get onto your knees to look into its nodding flowers which have beautiful markings.Dark pink/plum to white flowers. Partial /full shade.

Heuchera ‘Chocolate Ruffles’
(Perennial)
Attractive foliage plant with lobed purple red leaves. Good groundcoverer as is virtuallly evergreen and useful accent plant to give depth to green schemes. Flowers are less important than leaves. Sun/ partial shade.

Miscanthus sinensis ‘Graziella’
(Perennial)
Clump forming elegant grass with fine white vertical mid leaf stripe. Comes into its own in Autumn with silver flower plumes catching the afternoon sun. Good autumn colour in warmer areas. Leave grass standing over winter for structure in garden, cutting old leaves just before Spring and new leaves emerge. Sun/ partial shade. 1m x 1.75m /2m (height with flowers).

Essential
plant for gap filling in sunny places and autumn interest. Round shaped plant with succulent grey green leaves goes well with grasses. Large flat topped pink flowers turn to salmon pink through to coppery red in autumn. Attractive to bees and butterflies. Leave as a Winter structure plant. Sun.

Stipa tenuissima
(Perennial) Ponytail grass
Gorgeous tactile wispy grass which moves beautifully in the wind. Sunlight through it is also magical. Plant in groups for maximum effect. Use structural flowers such as Achillea for contrast. Divide April-June. Is frost hardy. Full sun. 60 x30cm
